What I love about this group of women is that we are not brought together by our careers or our children, but by our spirits. I came to the group over 10 years ago after a family tragedy. I felt lost and broken, but as I came back each month these powerful women slowly but surely breathed life back into me with their warmth, compassion and laughter. Over the last several years I’ve been involved with First Tuesday I’ve reaped many blessings. First and foremost the wonderful friendships I’ve made and being able to celebrate the successes of the many remarkable women in this group. Secondly, I became affiliated with a spiritual book group out in the suburbs. These women have become friends, but also the books we have read have enriched and changed my life in profound ways. I am a First Tuesday friend who has never been to an actual meeting! But I have found so from the support and resources of the terrific women in this group: handymen, book recommendations, hypnotherapists, special deals, etc…
Also it’s a great resource for the things I’m involved in, whether walking in the Avon 3 day walk and need supporters, or teaching a class and am looking for possible referrals. Last year I posted a client’s resume on the listserve and she was able to find a job! The year before that I called one of the women in the group to come in and do a consultation on some home decorating issue and we became fast friends. Later we traveled to Chile together and I now consider her a true friend. My connection with Marcy right from the beginning has been an ongoing opportunity to grow and stay connected and for that I am eternally grateful! Just this week I went to our monthly gatherings and I was touched, moved and inspired! Once again, the caliber of woman with heart, drive and soul were at the meeting. I am always so welcomed and acknowledged in the group that even when I get busy with work and say away for months I don’t feel like time has passed when I rejoin.
